Horní les lookout tower
The steel structure of the telecommunication tower with a view stands on the site of an already non-existent historical measuring mast. The current transmitter was built in 2002. After climbing 201 steps to the observation deck, you will have a view of the Svratecká hornatina, part of the Žďárské vrchy, Jeseníky or Krkonoše mountains from a height of 38 meters.
History of the Horní les lookout tower
In 1824, a trigonometric point was drawn at the top of Horní les. From 1918 there are mentions of the measuring tower and lookout tower called a bit strangely - "Rakušanka" („Austrian woman“). In 1936, a trigonometric mast with a height of 21 meters was built. In the years 1968-1969, a wooden tower 38 meters high was built, the remains of which were removed in 2000. In 2001, the investor, Eurotel, began construction of a steel mast. Its total height is 59 meters. It is located approximately 60 m southeast. from the elevation Horní les, at an altitude of 765 m above sea level. The lookout tower was opened on April 19, 2002.
